Dr. Mazlan Abbas (PhD) is the Chief Research Director and Head of Wireless Communications Cluster at MIMOS BHD.  Prior to MIMOS BHD, He has worked at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia in 1984. From 1984 to 1992 he was a Lecturer and Associate Professor at the University. Dr. Mazlan left the academia and joined Celcom (Malaysia) Berhad in 1993. He had served in many management positions at Celcom including as the Vice President of R&D, Billing Operations, Technology & Technical Management, Network Administration & Management, Integrated Business Solutions and Mobility Solutions.

He also holds Adjunct Professor position for UTeM and UTM. He has authored and co-authored over 40 research papers and technical reports on the subject of high-speed mobile broadband network, multimedia, next generation networks for technology journals and conference proceedings, chaired or co-chaired many international conferences on these subjects.  He is currently the Chairman of Wireless Broadband Working Group under Malaysian Standards Forum Berhad (MTSFB). He was also the Vice Chairman of Working Group 2 of Asian-Info-Communications Council (AIC) from 1999-2007.
