Introduction

This workshop is designed to train and upgrade the knowledge of the participants on the most recent technology of oil and gas measurement, that can enable them to perform appropriate selection of the flow meters, maintain the meters performance through verification and recalibration, and carry out the necessary calculations of meters certainty thus ensure a high quality of measurements that leads to most effective production measurements, highest revenue, and best process and equipment control.

Course Methodology

Besides learning from presentation and interaction with the expert trainer, you will have the opportunity to work on Case Study: The impact of the meter’s accuracy on the revenue values; and the following Exercises:

  • Calculation of the allocation measurement and the mass balance
  • Calculation of the gas mixture properties and the compressibility factor
  • Calculation of the discharge coefficient and mass flow rate for standard orifice meter using practical equation
  • Establishing the meter calibration curve, meter factor, rangeability, and meter total accuracy
  • Selection of the appropriate flow meter (meter’s specifications)

We will utilize full features of Zoom etc to make the virtual workshop experience engaging, interactive and effective. The entire workshop will be live to facilitate Presentations, Case Studies, Exercises and Discussions.

Prof. Taha Aldoss

Taha Aldoss is a Senior Associate Consultant with a number of Training and Consultation companies, specializing in Turbo Machines, Heat Exchangers, Boilers, Pyrolysis Furnaces, Piping Systems and Valves, Maintenance Technology, Measurements and Control Systems. His training and consulting career spans over 30 years delivering advanced engineering and technical programs worldwide. Professor Aldoss is an authority in the field of thermal-fluids and applied fluid mechanics and turbomachinery.  His industry and academics experience spans over four decades.

Professor Aldoss earned his doctorate in Mechanical engineering from prestigious Case Western Reserve University, USA. He worked in Refineries for several years. As a consultant, he has worked on many industrial projects involving piping systems, valves, heat exchangers, furnaces, and turbomachinery.

Professor Aldoss was teaching Mechanical Engineering courses in a number of universities in the Middle East and USA.  He delivered tens of specialized technical courses for engineers and technicians in industry, especially for the petrochemical companies in the Gulf region.

Throughout his intensive career in engineering, Professor Aldoss conducted and supervised advanced research programs that resulted in numerous graduate thesis research in the areas of thermal-fluids and applied fluid mechanics. He supervised and advised tens of graduate students who are serving in the field of Mechanical Engineering all over the world. As an educator, Professor Aldoss is the leading faculty of boundary layer theory and applications in the Middle East and had taught advanced Fluid Mechanics and Viscous Fluid Flow for decades. His academic career is highlighted by hundreds of applied and experimental Mechanical Engineering research and development projects.  Professor Aldoss is considered an expert of the advanced Fluid Mechanics and Heat Transfer applications.  He is credited for pioneering and establishing the highly regarded thermal-fluid graduate program at Jordan University of Science and Technology over the past 4 decades.

Professor Aldoss has been awarded several prizes for his distinguished publications and research work. His awards include the Shoman Prize and the Fulbright Fellowship. He has an impressive portfolio of publications in international journals and an outstanding record of presentations in international conferences. Professor Aldoss also holds several patents.

Appreciate different meters’ provers and standards, to decide and operate the appropriate prover and standard for verification and calibration of flow meters

Learn how to perform the proving and calibration processes, practice the calibration data processing, correct for systematic error, calculate the random error, and establish the total calibration curve, to deduce the MF, rangeability and non-linearity out of the calibration curve

Master the characteristics of different meters and flow measurements, and the potential performance deterioration of meters to decide on the frequency and schedule of meters proofing and recalibration
