Finance for Non-financial Executives

Live Interactive Online Workshop,
11th-14th February 2025

The course is aimed at understanding the fundamentals of finance as needed by non-financial executives who make financial decisions or control financial risks. It provides in-depth reviews of the main issues involved in finance: understanding how businesses generate value, making use of financial statements, understanding value drivers, evaluating appropriate sources of financing, evaluating investment projects and managing operational finance in areas of revenue and cost control.

The course will empower and prepare you to be an active player in the areas of corporate planning, budgeting, contributing to investment decisions and controlling the costs of operational management. All executives are expected to make an active contribution to the value of their company. Many, whilst proficient in their respective areas of expertise within business, require deeper understanding of finance necessary to bring their performance to the next level.

As your career progresses, you will be increasingly likely to be participating in high level or board level assessment of opportunities and reviews of performance thus requiring the financial skills covered in this programme. Responding to this, the course has been specially designed to further strengthen your financial skills.

Course Format and Methodology

Sound financial management helps to preserve and generate corporate value. Corporate value is driven by the primary value drivers. Through the course we will look at how these value drivers contribute to corporate value, how they are managed and controlled, how they are represented in financial statements and how the financial information can be used for control and decision making.

The course will be delivered in a live virtual format over 4 intensive half-days. We aim to maximise your learning experience by making best use of the online meeting platform. Your expert instructor is experienced in the use of technology for delivering virtual classroom learning. You will be encouraged to interact with your instructor and peers using a variety of methods including:

  • Facilitated group discussions using virtual white board, chat box and audio
  • Case studies to illustrate key issues worked individually or in virtual break outs
  • Polls and quizzes

We will keep presentations short and provide a workbook containing case studies, guidance material and summaries of key learning points.
